[News] 13 Dec 2011 - Gigi Lai’s Comeback in High Demand; TVB Offers $4 Million

TVB attempted all efforts to recruit Bowie Lam (林保怡) and Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) in filming with the company again. Allegedly TVB executives earmarked Gigi Lai (黎姿) as well, since her twin daughters were already one-and-a-half years old and have entered nursery school. TVB reportedly offered $4 million HKD for Gigi’s comeback! TVB executive and Gigi’s good friend, Virginia Lok (樂易玲), admitted that she has remained in touch with Gigi.

Forty-year-old Gigi Lai placed priority in taking care of her twin daughters. In addition, she also had to manage her younger brother, Lai Ying’s (黎嬰) beauty salon business. It was not an easy feat to have Gigi accept TVB’s filming offer. However, Gigi has been getting back into shape to film an upcoming commercial.

Last Thursday, on December 8th, Gigi took her twin daughters, assistants, and two foreign domestic helpers to shop at a brand name children’s clothing boutique located in the Man Yee Building. The store closed its doors to allow Gigi to shop privately without the disturbance of other customers.

Virginia Lok: “We Have Always Kept In Touch!”

Asked whether TVB had asked Gigi Lai to return to the small screen, Ms. Lok said, “We keep in touch with many actresses-turned-mothers, such as Kenik Kwok (郭可盈), Flora Chan (陳慧珊), and Gigi Lai (黎姿). If the roles were appropriate, we will ask if they are interested in filming!”

I cannot believe she looks this great even at her age. She never ages!
Gigi has had so many successes and joys during her 40 years on earth. She also experienced her share of pain and sadness. But, I am so glad to see her happy with her family now. We love you, Gigi :)

Btw, her birthday was on 1st October.

Gigi Lai's twin girls Patricia and Gianna turned 1 year old yesterday and at the party, the girls were officially exposed. A very cute pair, the older one looks more like Mom and the young looks more like Dad. Gigi is very satisfied with two daughters, and is in a very bright mood, putting matching outfits on her twins. There were about 30 security workers throughout the whole event. Earlier it was rumored Gigi was pregnant again, but yesterday she was dressed in a white tight dress, walking comfortably, doesn't look like she's pregnant!

Yesterday morning at 7:30am, Gigi already arrived at the location to prepare, and posted a background photo of the hotel on Weibo. She wrote: "Good morning, the weather is great, thankfully! Today is also a special day in my life, and is the busiest day, thank you God!" The night before, many fans wished her girls a happy birthday, she replied: "Thank you all for the blessings to my two girls! Thanks!" It has been a year since ex-TVB actress Gigi Lai gave birth to her twin daughters.

After a solid year of keeping her daughters out of the limelight since their birth, Gigi's twins made their first public appearance yesterday, when their mummy held a birthday party for her daughters at a hotel at Tsim Sha Tsui.

At around 7am yesterday morning, Gigi was seen at the hotel preparing for the day ahead. She later uploaded a photo with a scenic view of Hong Kong onto her microblog with the caption saying, "Good morning! I'm grateful for the great weather today. Thank god for this special and busy day of my life."

On Saturday night, fans of the actress sent the twins their birthday wishes through Gigi's microblog and the latter thanked everyone for the blessings and expressed her gratefulness in return.

When the girls were spotted yesterday, it was said that the elder daughter resembles Gigi, while the younger daughter resembles the actress' husband.

In other related news, the mother of two, who was said to be pregnant again, put speculations to rest when she appeared at the party in a tight-fitting dress.

The news basically says that Gigi has gained weight. She has also consumed traditional herbs, cordyceps, chicken soup etc to stay healthy.

Her two twin girls (Ka Wai & Ka Mei) participated in the baby dedication ceremony in church. Gigi thanks God for giving her two precious daughters.

They are using unique teaching methods for the babies. Besides English, they are also being recited French nursery rhymes!

Gigi Lai has been out from the showbiz after she decided to get married in 2008. Her attention is now on her brother's beauty business and her twin daughters. She spent most of her time at home to take care of her babies, and rarely step out of the house.

New year new clothes, the mom of two decided to shop some new clothes for her daughters. Reporters spotted her shopping for baby clothes in a mall recently. However, she seems to have put on a lot of weight again, having a chubby face and body. Used to care about matching outfits, now she doesn't mind going out in causal everyday clothing. The former TVB actress noticed she was being photographed while shopping, but was still in a good mood and kept her smiles.

As for why Gigi is gaining weight lately, it's said because she has been eating many nourishing foods, prepping her body to get pregnant again.

"Although she is very thankful of the two daughters she has now, but she knows her husband wants a son, so she decides to go for another child," sources said.

Knowing it could be hard to have kids at her age, the 39-year-old wants to try the "natural way" first, then try embryo implantation like last time if the "natural way" doesn't work out. In order to be at the best shape to get pregnant, she has been eating many tonic foods like fish maw, Chinese caterpillar fungus, pilose antler, and different kinds of chicken soup.

"If if she can't get pregnant, her husband thinks it's still good for her to stay healthy," a friend disclosed.

Terrence received an anonymous call, saying that they have kidnapped Constance and is asking for money in exchange. Terrence goes home and looks for her, but she is not there. Later on, he goes to his in-laws' house. He accuses Sylvia (and indirectly, Calvin) for kidnapping Constance. Siu Yau tells Terrence that she is certain that none of her daughters have anything to do with the kidnapping. Constance returns home in the middle of their argument, but she does not know anything about the kidnapping. She said that she returned from a day out with Jessica.

Constance bumps into Mr. Suen. They have a little chat, and Mr. Suen gives her some advice.

The police calls in Constance to ask her a few questions about Derek. Apparently, the police suspects Derek for kidnapping Mr. Suen. Of course, Constance is shocked to hear the news.

Thirty-nine year-old Gigi Lai Chi married wealthy businessman, Ma Ting Keung last year and gave birth to a pair of twin girls in July 2010. Since the younger twin only weighed three pounds at birth, her breathing was assisted by an oxygen tank in the first month. Since the baby’s immune system was still weak, Gigi took extra precautions to decrease her chance of bacterial infections. Gigi did not take the older twin baby outside and only allowed small batches of visitors at a time. Even Gigi’s parents had to follow the visitation rules as well.

Due to her advanced age, Gigi was grateful that she was able to become a mother. On Thanksgiving Day, November 25th, a Christianing will be held for her twin daughters. Gigi requested that only family and friends be allowed at the private Christianing.
After marrying Ma Ting Keung, Gigi was intent on being a good wife and mother. She followed a [nutritious] diet that was focused on improving her health. An overjoyed Gigi Lai has finally received her younger twin daughter back from the hospital.

In July this year, Gigi Lai successfully gave birth to premature twin daughters.

However, the younger girl was too light (1.36 kg or 3 lbs.) to be deemed healthy for discharged - until recently.

A visibly happy Gigi was seen shopping in Hong Kong's central, buying clothes for her baby girl.

The new mom had reportedly insisted on breast feeding her children, and was said to be consistently consuming tonic products and fish soup to nurse her health.

Prior to the pregnancy, Gigi and her husband, tycoon Patrick Ma have been working hard for a child. A successful artificial insemination procedure finally granted their wish.

To reward his wife for her hard work, Patrick Ma spared no expenses, spending lavishly on a whooping HKD $15 million (S $3 million or USD $1.9 million) on a luxurious yacht for Gigi.

The yacht was later named Bonheur, meaning happiness in French.

The elated 53-year-old businessman even splurged on a luxurious HKD $800,000 (S $160,000 or US$103,000) hospital ward for his wife to stay after her delivery.

I had a clear vision and objective for this fanblog, which was to serve as an archive for all things Gigi Lai.
But it seems like the enthusiasm, motivation and inspiration is wearing off. Not because I don't like Gigi anymore (she's still my favourite!), it is because there is nothing to keep me going, I'm not motivated to continue posting.

I will still post recent news and photos of Gigi, but the updates for episodic summaries/reviews ~~won't be continued~~ will be very very slow. I'm so sorry, I truly am.

After giving birth to twin daughters in a Hong Kong hospital in late July, Gigi Lai begins her recuperation after being discharged from the hospital with her older daughter last week.

Her younger daughter is being kept under observation at the hospital as she is underweight.

Over a phone interview, Gigi talked about her experience over the past nine months of pregnancy.

She revealed that before she knew she was pregnant, she vomited so badly that she even went into shock. It was only when her husband, Patrick Ma, sent her to the hospital did they realize that Gigi was pregnant.

Over the nine months, Gigi had to carry the weight of her unborn daughters. With the weight of her womb bearing down on her, the actress kept panting after taking a few steps. Even the simple act of talking on the phone caused her to be tired.

Despite that, Gigi still sounded happy as she recounts how she first set her eyes on the fruits of her labour: her two daughters.

"After the operation, when the doctor put my daughters by my side, I felt like God gave me two of the most precious gifts I can ever have."

"I have changed: from the narcissistic woman I was, I am now an ordinary mother who wishes nothing more than for my babies to grow up healthy and strong."

HONG KONG: Former Hong Kong actress Gigi Lai, who recently gave birth prematurely to twin daughters, has said she doesn't want them to follow in her footsteps and enter showbiz, reported Hong Kong media.

"I was in my teens when I started acting and missed a lot of my youth. I don't want my children to be like me. I hope that they can lead their own lives and I will try to protect their privacy as much as possible. Hopefully people will give them some space," said Lai.

"I will give them freedom, but won't let them decide what they want to do when they are still in their teens. They must finish their university studies before they get to choose."

Speaking to Hong Kong media for the first time after delivering her twins via Caesarean section on July 24, Lai, who is married to wealthy businessman Patrick Ma, 53, said she was very emotional when the doctors brought her babies to her.

"Just after the operation, the doctors brought them (the twins) to me and it felt like heaven had given me two priceless gifts. Even today, I still feel moved," gushed the 39 year-old, who described her elder daughter as "quiet and refined" and the younger one as "very active".

When asked if it was a difficult pregnancy, Lai recounted that she experienced morning sickness early during her pregnancy and vomited so violently she had to be warded, before doctors told her she was pregnant.

She also felt out of breath while talking on the phone.

However, Lai said that it was all worth it to be a mother and added that she has no interest in returning to showbiz.

"I want to be a normal woman, a mother. I retired from the entertainment industry because I got tired of it," said Lai.

Gigi Lai's pregnancy due date is in August, but she decided to pick a lucky day (today, July 24) to have a c-section. She successfully gave birth to twin daughters and they're all safe. Gigi went to Canossa Hospital in secret and husband Patrick Ma has been taking care her. After Gigi gave birth, Ma couldn't wait and went outside the hospital to announce this good news to the media. Around 9:20PM, Ma walked out with a smile and noticed the media, expressing Gigi just gave birth to twin daughters. Elder daughter weighs 6lbs-ish; younger daughter weighs 3lbs-ish. This scene started out with Contance and Terrence being kinda lovey-dovey. Constance told Terrence about Sylvia accusing him of ordering people to beat Calvin up and asked him whether he was the one who did it. Terrence said he did not. But Constance wasn't too sure about his answer so Terrence got fed up. He gave her a peck on the forehead and left the house because "he did not want to argue with her".

Terrence got drunk and Sharon (Maria Chan) spotted him in his car. She took the opportunity to take a picture of them together.
Terrence was surprised to wake up in Jessica's house the next day (I think Sharon told Jessica about Terrence being drunk and brought him back to Jessica's house). Jessica tells Terrence to not hurt Constance's feelings.

Constance: Just came back from work?
Terrence: I specially came to see you.
Constance: Do you have time?
Terrence: I'm actually pretty busy. But every night when I return home and I want to see you, you have fallen asleep. I know that you are at the door sometimes, but you don't dare to come in because you don't want to disturb me. I have thought very clearly. Even if I'm busy with work, I realized it's not important anymore.
Constance: I hope you won't blame me for suspecting that you were the one who beat up Calvin.

Nevertheless, I'm so happy for her ;) And although she was a famous celebrity (and she still is [famous]), she still keeps things under wraps and is very low-key. - When they were having lunch, Gigi (who takes care of her health/body figure very well) always eats light, only eating vegetable/salad and Moses likes to sit next to her, showing off and tempting her with his hamburger, always saying "Lai Chi, it's very delicious!" or showing in front of everyone his "eating half a hamburger in one bite" (something like that) skills, making Gigi and the rest of the crew laugh their head off.

SYLVIA

Sylvia is a strong, career-minded woman. She's very serious when it comes to work and wants to do her best. Most of the time she is quite clear-minded. She does not break down easily and does not give up.

She has a relationship with Calvin and Sunny.
Sylvia&Calvin were 'enemies' before they started dating. She worked for him amd fell in love with him. But they broke up because Sylvia thinks that Calvin is not being serious about their relationship. After that, Sylvia and Calvin maintain a boss-worker relationship.

Then Catherine comes into the picture. Catherine's brother owns a prestigious entertainment company. Her brother falls very ill and Catherine is put in charge of the company.
Catherine likes Calvin, but she can see that Calvin still has feelings for Sylvia. She eliminates (figuratively speaking) Sylvia by telling her that she feels insecure and wants Sylvia to get married (not with Calvin obviously) if she wants to cooperate with her in some business. Sylvia decides to get married with Sunny. Sunny is gay and likes Calvin, but he knows that they won't be together.
At the same time, Catherine wants to marry Calvin.
The two couples get married but after 2 yrs, they were divorced.
Sylvia was pregnant with Calvin's baby but she experienced a miscarriage.

Their ending:
Sylvia sort of ends up with Calvin and they both realize they love each other, but Sylvia will have to wait for him as he is going to jail.

CONSTANCE

Constance is a sentimental and sweet woman. She is a hopeless romantic, but she is blinded by love which makes her naive and gullible.

Constance has a relationship with Frankie, Derek and Terrence.
The story starts with her returning from Canada with her husband, Frankie after they eloped a few years ago. Frankie cheats Constance for her money, which leaves her heart-broken.

Then she meets Derek after she finds a job at MaBelle. At first, Derek was only after Constance because of lust. He already had a girlfriend who was together with him for years. She aborted their baby for him.
Constance was touched with everything he did to pursue her and started an underground relationship with him because he is not on talking terms with her family. Her mother found out about them in the end and exposed the bad things he did. Constance was once again heartbroken to hear that he lied to her about his ex-girlfriend. They broke up. Derek still looks out for her and threatened to kill Mr. Suen because Derek thought he wanted to sack Constance. Derek ends up in jail.

Terrence met Constance when she was in a clothes store after arguing with Jessica. He bought a dress for her.

When Jessica and Patrick encountered finance problems, she appealed to him to consider investing in her brother-in-law's stock market. They were stuck in the yacht at sea for 7 days. Constance didn't like his attitude and him at all.
After the incident they warmed up and got to know each other more. Terrence confesses his love to her but she didn't want to start a relationship so quick because of her previous love experience with Derek. But Terrence won her heart.

But because of her new family ties with him after Jessica married Martin and her mother's disapproval of their relationship, they were forced apart. He was stubborn and still wanted to be with Constance. She also found out that she wanted to be with him, despite the new family ties.

After all the storms and obstacles, Terrence decided to marry Constance. But he was (almost) unfaithful to his marriage. Elise sent pictures of him and Sharon to Constance. She was furious, but decided to forgive him. Elise cheats Terrence into bed with her. Constance saw this and thought of this as the last straw. She files for divorce. She also runs away from home to run away from the fact that her mother is going to jail for Jessica.

2 years later, she comes back from Tibet. She is a whole new person. She knows how to defend herself and isn't afraid to voice out her opinion. Terrence still wants to be with her but she has made her decision to finalize the divorce.

Derek comes back to Hong Kong also from Tibet and still has feelings for Constance.
But because Terrence didn't want a third party in his relationship with Constance, he did not help Derek escape from a burning truck, therefore Derek died.
Constance wants to start again with Terrence. They had an argument and broke up. Terrence told Constance the truth about Derek's death.

Their ending:
Constance bumped into Terrence when she was trying to retrieve her Happiness Ring which she dropped into the sewer. Terrence helps her retrieve it back. She was so happy, she hugged him and he hugged back. She then retreated herself from the hug and they both stand awkwardly on the streets.

JESSICA

Jessica is a smart, money-minded woman. She plans out everything she will and must do, and can be quite manipulative at times. She is also materialistic and an opportunist. Most of the time, she always gets what she wants.

She has a relationship with Ah Wor and Martin.

Her relationship with Ah Wor was only one way, Ah Wor has had a crush on her since they were young while Jessica isn't interested in him.

She meets Martin, a successful businessman who is older than her father. His son, Terrence does not like Jessica at all and treats her like an enemy. He does not allow his father to be with Jessica because he does not like Jessica and because he is dating her sister, Constance.

At first Jessica's father disagrees on her relationship with Martin, but he then accepted it because he could see how happy Jessica was when she is with him.
So Jessica married him secretly and privately in Phuket.
Her mother objected because she has already planned out Constance and Terrence's relationship. But after Constance sacrificed her relationship with Terrence for Jessica's happiness, their mother finally accepts Martin.
Jessica becomes worried when Terrence & Constance got married.
Jessica becomes pregnant and gives birth to Xun Xun.

She accidentally hits a boy while driving but her mother took the blame for her and went to jail.

After 2 years, she has changed.

Her ending:
Martin and Xun Xun dies.
She is left alone with her husband and son gone. Ah Wor becomes blind and confesses his love to Jessica.

The 3 sisters have their similarities and differences.

Gigi guest stars for new gospel movie, 'Drifter's World Cup' for a 6 digit fee. Gigi says that she will donate the fee to charity.

Eric Suen, who also stars, says he promised to donate a tenth of his fee. It has been few years since Gigi has filmed a movie, and so this opportunity to do so makes her very happy. HONG KONG: Former actress Gigi Lai who changed her name and consulted a celebrity fertility specialist in hopes of getting a child, is now two months pregnant.

According to Hong Kong media, Lai was overjoyed when she found out she was pregnant and messaged her close friends about it.

"This time, we finally struck. I am so happy. My husband is so anxious and tells me to be careful," said Lai in her text message.

39-year-old Lai and wealthy businessman Patrick Ma, who is 14 years her senior, tied the knot last January. The couple love children but it was not easy for a woman of Lai's age to conceive, so Lai had pulled out all the stops in a bid to make it happen.

She changed her name to "Li Jia Er" - which sounds the same phonetically as the phrase "adding a son", on the advice of her geomancer, who said it would increase her chances of getting pregnant.

She also got top fertility specialist Clement Ho, who has treated stars like Hong Kong actresses Carina Lau and Sandra Ng, to aid her in her quest for a child.

When her husband learned of her pregnancy, he was so anxious he cancelled their wedding anniversary party to let her rest.

Honestly, I don't know whether to trust this piece of news. Remember last year where reports said she was 2 months pregnant as well? Somewhere in the middle of the year, another piece of news said she was 4 months pregnant too.

She almost completed the crossword by combining Terrence's vertical answers and she still had one more word to solve. The answer is a myth about three Sri Lanka princes. With Sylvia's help, she found out that the word was, 'Serendipity' (episode 31). Constance decides that she wants to be with Terrence.

2. Constance misses Terrence and vice versa. Terrence's couple mug broke when police were in his office.

3. Terrence was let out of jail because he was proven innocent. Constance hugs him. Terrence suggested they run away. But this time, Constance had doubts about eloping. Terrence told her that he would wait for her on his yacht till morning. If she doesn't come, he won't bother her anymore.

C: Ah, but I still think Jessica's dress is a bit plain. Isn't the other one better?
J: Plain is good. The cut is not bad.
Salesperson: This wedding gown is from Milan. Why not I bring more for you to try?
J: Thank you.
SY: In my opinion this dress is quite nice.
C: What do you think, older sis?
S: Do you think that we can stop her from having the things she want? Let her be. (referring to her marriage to Martin)
C: What about my dress then?
S: If you like it, no one can stop you. (referring to her relationship with Terrence)
SY: Ah, this dress is nice, it suits you.
C: Okay, then I'll take this one.
J: Don't care about oldest sis, there are so many dresses, pick slowly.

Gigi Lai Films for "Jewel's Splendor" While Taking Care of Brother

Although Gigi Lai Chi's brother, Lai Ying, is still recuperating from his automobile accident in May, she has returned to work after a 2 month hiatus. Gigi filmed an outdoor scene for "Jewel's Splendor" yesterday. Although the lunch break was less than an hour, she took the opportunity to quickly visit her brother at the hospital with her assistant. It is obvious that Gigi and her brother share a strong bond.

Gigi, Ada Choi Siu Fun, and Maggie Shiu Mei Kei filmed at a wedding center, with 2nd sister, Ada, deciding to marry Ngok Wah, a man who was even older than her father.

Accompanied by sisters, Maggie and Gigi, and mother, Gigi Wong Suk Yee, Ada tried on her wedding dress. Ngok Wah, Moses Chan, and Kenny Wong were also present to take group photos.

Three weeks ago, Gigi returned to work. Yesterday, she work an ice-blue low cut evening dress. Regarding Lai Ying's status, Gigi said, "He had several surgeries and will need time to recover. He often has to change his patient room."

Gigi's character is a sweet-natured woman and will pair with Moses Chan. However, Gig's sister, Ada, married Moses' father, Ngok Wah. As a result of the marriage, Gigi and Moses were forced apart due to their new family connections.

Since both Ada and Maggie are strong-willed characters, they often exchange biting remarks in the series. In the scene at the wedding center, Maggie said to Ada, "You should alter the bust line of the wedding dress; you know about your body's flaws!"

2. Jessica comes back from Phuket with Martin, married. Constance was saddened. Siu Yau was very angry with Jessica for secretly marrying Martin without parents' consent and Jessica&Martin's marriage will ruin Constance and Terrence's relationship.

T: It's me, you probably already know about my father and your sister?
C: Yes. How's your father?
T: He's okay. Why do you still care about this now?
C: My younger sister is really worried for your father. Can you tell me which hospital he is in now?
T: I don't care about your sister, I only care about you.
C: I'm alright.
T: Then why didn't you come to work today?
C: I have already applied for a leave.
T: I don't want you be afraid of seeing me because of those two people. I know you're confused, but I just want to tell you.. I know what I want. I hope you know what you want too. Remember, no one or nothing can affect our relationship.........
After hanging up, Constance accidentally broke the couple mug which she and Terrence bought earlier.

4. Jessica found out which hospital Martin is in, so she and Constance went to visit Martin. But Terrence wouldn't allow them to visit his father. Then Martin appears and asks Terrence to leave. Constance runs after him....
C: Stop right there!
T: I told you already, no one and nothing can affect our relationship. I don't want to argue with you because of that woman.
C: That woman is my sister, and your father's wife!
T: I will not accept her as my father's wife! Even if she's your sister, I won't give face!
C: Can you think rationally? True love exists!
T: The one I love is you! Don't make this so confusing.. just think about you and me.
C: Can you not be like that? Can you not be so immature and selfish?
T: No.
C: Then we'll break up.
T: Are you breaking up with me just like that?
C: We can't be together, it's too complicated.
T: If you tell me you don't love me, I will accept. But I won't accept any other reason!
C: I don't want to talk about it.
And then Terrence hugged Constance tightly although she was struggling, but in the end she gave in to him and hugged him as well. Siu Yau and Ying Jie saw what had happened from a distance.

5. Sylvia picked Constance and Jessica up from the hospital as there were reporters waiting for Jessica at the main entrance. Sylvia and Jessica got into an argument.

6. Siu Yau was very angry, so she went to Zhuhai for a while. Constance went over to convince her mother to come back. Siu Yau told Constance that she knew everything about Constance's relationship with Terrence. Constance promised Siu Yau that she will give up her relationship with Terrence for the family. Siu Yau returned home.

Terrence resigned from Miracle, and wanted to build his own company. He called Constance up and told her about his new building. Constance officially broke up with Terrence.

When Constance went home, Sylvia saw her crying and scolded Siu Yau for making Constance so sad.

3. Terrence invited Constance to a company dinner. Constance didn't believe him.. she wrote a resignation letter and said if she doesn't see anyone related to work there, she wants the letter to be accepted with immediate effect. And then her colleagues came up :P

Constance heard from a client that the kids she 'adopted' at Guizhou fell victim to a landslide. She went home and quickly looked for the tape the Guizhou children sent her. Terrence helped her look for a tape player, and gave her some advice. Finally, she accepted his courtship.

3. Constance was asked to drive Terrence's Lamborghini* (reason was not mentioned). She drove home to get a name card of a doctor for Terrence. Elise saw her driving Terrence's car and followed her to her house. Elise created trouble at the Hong family's house.

4. Constance tried to tell Terrence about his ex-girlfriend's call but he was always so busy. Constance heard from June (her friend who works at MaBelle, remember?) that Terrence came over to MaBelle to buy a neckalace. Constance was worried. When she left, someone passed her something protective** for HIV. She decided to look for Terrence to tell him about the call and to give him the protective thing. But Terrence already left the marina, so Constance threw the protective thing on to his boat. Then Elise appeared....

1. Ching Yeung submitted Constance's design of the Happiness Ring to an international jewellery designing competition.

2. Mr. Suen compliments Constance's designs and asks her to become a jewellery designer instead of a salesperson.

3. Elise almost knocks down Constance with her car because she was racing with her cousins. Elise scolded Constance. That was Constance and Elise's first encounter. Ah Fat saw what Elise did to Constance.

4. He burnt her car but he was caught by the security cameras. Someone recognized him as Constance's boyfriend. Constance had to go to the police station.

5. In the end, Constance was proved innocent. She wanted to resign from her job because she thinks that it would affect the company's name.

6. Ah Fat meets up with Constance and says that he will take revenge on Mr. Suen for firing Constance, when actually Constance resigned.

7. Constance and Terrence went out for lunch.
T: When are you working till?
C: How did you know that I resigning from my job?

2. Siu Yau discourages Constance from learning jewellery design. The whole family finds out about Ah Wor buying a ring, but does not know who he bought it for, when he actually bought it for Jessica.

3. Ah Fat goes to see Constance at the store. Constance asks him to go away, but he wouldn't listen. Terrence comes to take his credit card back, which he left. Ah Fat creates trouble, and buys the most expensive ring in the store because he thinks that Constance looks down on him.

4. Constance asks Terrence out for dinner to apologize about what happened in the store.

The 38-year-old former actress had been married to Ma, 52, for the past 11 months. When they got married, she promised to give the Ma family an heir but her efforts so far have been in vain.

Desperate for a child, Lai went to fertility specialists and even consulted a geomancer on the matter, despite being a devout Christian.

A geomancer claimed that Lai's old name "Li Zi" benefited her career but conversely decreased the chances of her having a child. Even if she conceived, the child will more likely be a daughter than a son.

Lai's new name "Li Jia Er" - which sounds the same phonetically as the phrase "adding a son" - is believed to change her fortune and improve her chances of gaining a son.

However, the new name will reportedly give her less luck with interpersonal relationships. This would not affect Lai much since she has retired from the entertainment industry and will not need to meet as many people as before.

I might be biased, I would like to hear her clarify this herself.
Remember the pregnancy rumours? News about her being pregnant for 4-5 months was everywhere in the news, but after that I think she clarified that she was not pregnant.

In my opinion, maybe she changed her name because she wanted to be called Lai Ka Yee, the ordinary HK citizen... and not Lai Chi, the actress. Being such a coincidence, her name Lai Ka Yee/Li Jia Yi sounds like something else.

Hmmm there's something I don't get.. for those who can read Chinese out there!
黎珈而.. 珈而 does phonetically sound like 加兒.. but the '兒' doesn't necessarily mean 'boy'. Lol I don't get geomancy at all :P

Constance's friend Mabel went to see her at the jewellery shop. There were two men who proposed at the same time to Mabel and she didn't know which one to choose. Constance taught her how to choose.

Mabel became some sort of an inspiration to Constance. She designed a ring that is actually 2 rings, but can be put together as one ring and separated. She calls it, "Happiness ring"

Constance and Sylvia are eating lunch at a fast-food restaurant and overhears two girls in their mid-twenties talking about aging and relationships.

Cast of The Gem of Life sails on a luxury cruise
October 21 2009

The cast of TVB Anniversary Series, The Gem of Life, went on a luxury cruise to promote the series. Among those present were Gigi Lai, Ada Choi, Maggie Siu, Bowie Lam, Moses Chan and Wong Hei. The cast were treated to a splendid buffet meal as well as synchronized swimming performances.

The cast also made wishes with candles and placed them in the swimming pool, hoping for high TV ratings. The female cast member were extra cautious when placing the candles in the pool as they didn't want to wet their beautiful dresses. Gigi Lai jokingly said that she was also worried that Bowie, who was standing behind her, might push her into the pool. Bowie, Moses and Kenny Wong also performed a strip dance to the delight of all the ladies present.

Ada and Maggie's outfit were the most eye-catching. Ada explained that her outift was sponsored but what matters is that it suited the occasion. She also expressed her confidance in the series, "There are very few series that will air 2 episodes at once. I believe the ratings won’t be bad. I hope the audience will like it." A reporter complimented Maggie, saying that she (Maggie) and Ada had stolen the limelight from Gigi. Maggie was modest and said, "We can all alternate looking beautiful. Most important is being comfortable with what you are wearing." Maggie also echoed Gigi's confidence in the series but added that she will not put too much pressure on herself.

Gigi, her husband, her brother and her parents went out for a buffet at a Japanese restaurant.
Lai Ying's condition has improved and no longer needs to stay at the hospital.
Gigi got a new home with all kinds of equipments and machines for her brother and parents. She also hired physical therapists to help her brother.

Gigi Lai Licks Moses Chan's Feet, Thinks He Will Win Best Actor Award This Year

Gigi Lai, Moses Chan, Kevin Cheng, Yoyo Mung appeared yesterday at a promotional event for TVB anniversary series "The Ultimate Crime Fighter". Recently there were news reports saying TVB has divided into two factions, with Stephan Chan's side going against Virginia Lok's side. Gigi and Moses claimed they don't belong to any faction, they work for the company, so both Stephan and Virginia are their bosses.

In "The Ultimate Crime Fighter", Gigi will play an ugly looking girl while Moses plays a gigolo whose true identity is an undercover cop. There is a scene where Moses licks male actor Jungtang Wang's feet, at the event yesterday, Gigi imitated Moses and pretended to lick Moses' feet for him, causing much laughter.

The day before was Gigi's birthday, she spent the day at work, then visited her brother in hospital afterwards. Gigi says her brother is happy whenever he sees her, if he can't see her, he would cry and sulk, so she needs to visit him in hospital at least once at day. Her brother still needs to undergo two or three more operations.

This year, Yoyo Mung has three series "Heart of Greed", "Fathers and Sons", and "The Ultimate Crime Fighter", giving her a good chance for the best actress award. Gigi supports Moses to win the best actor award, she says he is very talented and hardworking, she wouldn't be surprised if he wins. As for best actress, she supports Lee See Kei to win because she has such great acting skills.

Sylvia: Wah, I thought you said you would treat us (her sisters) supper, but you cook us instant noodles instead.
Jessica: Both of you know that cooking instant noodles is one of my strengths. Cooking for both of you is already very good. And, I'm bankrupt now.
Constance: Mmm.. the noodles is not bad.
S: It's a Japanese product. The 6 dollars one is of course better than the 2 dollars one.
J: When I get my pay, I'll treat you to a big meal.
C: After you get your pay, don't you need to go buy things?
S: I don't know where all my new handbags went.
C: My new clothes are missing too.
J: Don't be like that, working at Melissa's is very pitiful. It's not only about your ability, it's also about your appearance. I'm facing a lot of pressure.. Big sister, of course you won't understand. You're the boss, you only order people to do things. 2nd sister, you wear a uniform and you don't need to date yet.

Terrence visits Constance's workplace to buy a bracelet for his secretary. He also asks her out for lunch, but Constance rejected him because says she's 'busy'. Terrence thinks it's because of Derek.

Siu Yau sees Constance and Derek together. She scolds both of them.

Constance decides to secretly leave the house for a little while because she feels awkward facing her mother. But Siu Yau found out anyway.

Siu Yau looks for Kuan Ching and asks her for the truth.
Actually, KC has followed Derek for more than 10 years. KC was actually pregnant with Derek's baby but he asked her to abort the baby because he didn't like children. Siu Yau lies to KC, saying that Constance is pregnant.

KC goes to find Constance because she doesn't want Constance to be tricked by Derek. KC tells everything to Constance including that Sunny is not her boyfriend but Derek is.
After that, Constance asks Derek if he would have children with her. Derek says he is willing to have as many babies as possible. She also asked about Sunny but he is still lying about Sunny being with KC.
In the end, Constance admits that she found out about everything. They broke up.

Episode 16 didn't have much of Gigi in it.
Basically, Ching Yeung, Constance's dad thinks that Ah Fat is a liar.
This changes Constance's opinion of Ah Fat.

EPISODE 17

Mr. Kam, a MaBelle customer, left his wedding ring in the toilet (?!). Ah Fat helps Constance return the ring, and ends up injuring himself.

Constance accepts Derek's courtship.

Constance and June (her friend & colleague) met Terrence at a café. At that time, Constance disliked Terrence because he 'bullied' her on the yacht (in episode 7 and episode 8). So Constance put the water from the vase into his coffee.
Suddenly, someone fainted near the toilet. Constance thought it was Terrence. She told June what she did. But it turns out that it was not Terrence who fainted. Terrence overheard and said that it was fair because she put something in his coffee and he bullied her on the yacht. Terrence wanted to be Constance's friend. Constance said if they meet again, then they'll be friends. Terrence also wanted to know what she put in his coffee :P

Derek visited Constance at her workplace. But Constance didn't want their relationship to be known.
Derek also bought her a diamond ring.

Terrence's girlfriend poured coffee over his suit (broke up). Constance coincidentally met Terrence again. Terrence asked whether Constance could help him pick a new suit. Terrence looked into the mirror and asked Constance whether it was okay. She repeated what he said in episode 5 (Basically, she complimented him). They ate lunch together and Constance gave advice to Terrence about women. She asked him to buy something for his girlfriend from MaBelle (her workplace).
Derek saw them laughing and chatting happily. He got jealous and went over to scold Terrence.

Siu Yau spotted someone sending Constance home, but she did not know it was Derek.

Ah Fat (a.k.a Derek) pulled Kuan Ching away and they started arguing on the streets. Coincidentally, Constance met them. Luckily, Kenny lied. He said that Kuan Ching and him were a couple and were fighting, Ah Fat came to be the peacemaker. Constance believed him.
(At this scene, Constance was linking arms with Ah Fat and she asked him to call her? It sounds like they are already dating, but they are not o.O)

Constance is afraid of a dog (it's chained up). It barks at her. She was frightened and ran into Ah Fat.

They ate dinner at a restaurant. Turns out that Ah Fat purposely waited for her to finish her class to pick her up but he was late. Ah Fat gives her flowers and a heart-shaped ring. He asks her to be his girlfriend, but she rejects.

Earlier this week, Gigi Lai, Bowie Lam, Sharon Chan, and Kenny Wong appeared in Beijing to promote TVB's establishment of its own network distribution in China. Gigi and Bowie have often appeared as onscreen lovers. At the promotional event, Bowie showed his attentiveness towards Gigi as well, taking her hand and leading her onstage. When an over eager male fan tried to get too close to Gigi to give her a hug, Bowie acted as "bodyguard" and blocked off the fan's advances.

Bowie held on to the male fan and said humorously, "Gigi, if you give permission for him to hug you, I will release him!"

Gigi said directly to the fan, "I think it's better for you to just hug Bowie instead!"

Bowie used his left arm to give Gigi a hug, while he used his right arm to hug the male fan. Then he said, "You've accomplished your goal now, right?" The male fan could only leave the stage at that point.

From "Healing Hands 3," "War and Beauty" to "Dance of Passion," Bowie and Gigi have collaborated on 3 series together. However their bond is very strong and at many promotional events, they appear together as a "couple." Bowie also admitted that since working with Gigi, they have always gotten along well together.

Jessica's company caught fire and thought Constance was still in it. Jessica became frantic with worry. But Constance already went back home before the office caught fire, so she was safe. Constance also found out that Jessica purposely asked her to go back to the office, so that she can have a chance with Wilson. Sylvia and ~~Jessica~~ (typo error) Constance decided to 'punish' Jessica by using rubber bands.
Haha Gigi's arms look toned and a tiny bit muscular here. LOL must be from all those martial arts when she was young.

Ah Fat invites the Hong family for lunch. Sylvia and Siu Yau both can see that Ah Fat has a crush on Constance. But both of them did not like Eddie.

Ah Fat becomes rich because Calvin is helping (tricking) him to get his money back from Mr. Suen.

Ah Fat visits Constance at the jewellery store. At first, Constance didn't recognize him because he changed his look. He invites her for dinner. They eat at a high-class restaurant and Constance teaches Ah Fat about table manners.

Cute sisters scene #2 :) Constance gave Jessica a dress to wear for the dinner. Then Sylvia came in and argued with Jessica. All 3 sisters end up playing with rubber bands!

MaBelle is holding an anniversary dinner. Ah Wor, Constance and Jessica (currently working for a PR company which is organizing the dinner) are all present. The booklets for the event were left in the office, Constance offered to help Jessica take them. But she was locked in and couldn't go back.

TVB grand production "Gem of Life" debuts in Hong Kong tonight. While promoting the series with her colleagues, Gigi suddenly announced that she will be retiring from the entertainment industry, sparking stunned responses among those present. Unable to hold back her tears, Gigi thanked TVB for supporting her for the past 20 years, "This is the last time I will accept an interview, after tonight, I will be starting a new life."

Gigi revealed that she has been planning to retire over the past two years and the people around her have supported her decision. Her brother's accident changed her views of fame drastically. "The most important thing in life is not money, but the time you spend with your family. I entered the industry when I was only a teenager and have been in it for 29 years. Having tried everything from singing, acting in movies and dramas, I am thankful and satisfied with what I have achieved today."

Gigi admitted that she is not getting married but may plan to do so in the future. "The most important thing to me at present is to spend time with my family, take care of my brother and perhaps go back to school to study." she said. When the host asked her whether she is considering a full retirement, Gigi replied, "I am not going to take on any more commercials, attend any more award ceremonies, release any more albums or film any more shows. This will be the last time I am doing an interview."

When taking pictures with the cast at the end of the event, Gigi thanked everyone once again for all the help and support they gave. It was raining and Constance was on her way to work. She needed to cross the underground tunnel to get to the other side, but it was drowned in water. Ah Fat sees this and offers to carry her on his back to get to the other side. Constance was a bit reluctant at first, but she accepted in the end. Ah Fat's girlfriend Kuan Ching, got jealous.

Ah Fat learns that about Constance is being transferred to another MaBelle store.

Jessica gives a cheque to Siu Yau. Constance gets angry and gives it back (also gave Jessica a scolding).

Constance's first day at work. And Constance&Derek's first encounter.
She walks past a magazine stall (Derek Chan Kai Fat's). She sees herself and Terrence on one of the magazine's front page. At the same time, Ah Fat's friend takes a magazine from the stall without paying (but will pay later). Constance tells him off. Ah Fat fell in love with Constance at first sight. He explains the situation to her. She apologizes. Ah Fat and his friends thought that Constance was a celebrity. But after that, they found out that she was working at Mr. Suen's jewellery store (MaBelle).

Constance and her friend/colleague June, goes out for lunch. Coincidentally, one of Ah Fat's friends works at the restaurant. Ah Fat asks him to add extra food to Constance's pack of rice.

Sylvia and Ringo (Martin's assistant) are both looking for Contance and Terrence but they could not be reached.

Terrence asked Constance to tack the yacht, but mainsail accidentally hit Constance and she fell into the water. (Funny!)

Terrence gets a fever and Constance takes care of him.
C: *checks T's temperature* Although the fever has not gone away, but you won't die.
T: I didn't spoil the phone.
C: Oh, so I was the one who spoiled it?
T: I really want to use the phone. There's no signal. I'm more frustrated than you.
C: Not only I can't call back, you can't call back too. You suffer too. Eat your medicine. *hands cup of water and pills*
T: *eats medicine* *hands cup of water to C* Drink some water, your lips are chapped.
